As the core component for transporting liquids in industrial equipment, the stable operation of the oil pump directly affects the speed and stability of the entire system. To ensure that the oil pump is in good working condition for a long time, maintenance operations should follow the principles of systematicity, standardization, and prevention, covering daily inspections, regular maintenance, fault prediction, and emergency response. The core requirements for oil pump maintenance are elaborated in detail from five dimensions: operating standards, lubrication management, sealing maintenance, cleaning and maintenance, and stability protection.
1、 Operating standards: strictly follow the process to avoid human damage
The start and stop of the oil pump must follow standardized procedures. Before starting, the operator should check whether the various connection parts of the pump body are tightened, including the inlet and outlet flanges, motor couplings, and foundation bolts, to prevent leakage or shaft fracture caused by loosening due to vibration. At the same time, it is necessary to confirm that the pipeline valves are in the correct position: the inlet valves should be fully opened to avoid the pump body from idling; The inlet and outlet valves should be gradually opened according to the system pressure to prevent damage to gears or bearings caused by sudden high-pressure impact. For example, a certain company once started the oil pump directly without opening the inlet valve, resulting in dry grinding inside the pump and serious scratches on the gear teeth surface. During maintenance, it was found that the gear components needed to be replaced as a whole.
During operation, it is necessary to closely monitor pressure, temperature, and vibration parameters. If the inlet and outlet pressures remain below or above the normal range, it may be due to pipeline blockage, incomplete valve opening, or impeller wear, and immediate shutdown is required for troubleshooting; If the temperature of the bearing rises abnormally, it may be due to insufficient lubrication or bearing damage, and it is necessary to replenish lubricating grease or replace the bearing. In addition, it is necessary to avoid frequent starting and stopping of the oil pump, as sudden changes in medium flow rate and pressure during each start and stop can exacerbate gear impact and shorten equipment life. A certain chemical plant had fatigue cracks in the gearbox due to frequent starting and stopping of the oil pump by the operator, and the pump body structure needed to be replaced as a whole in the later stage.
2、 Lubrication Management: Accurately Control Oil Quality and Quantity
Lubrication is the core link of oil pump maintenance, and its quality directly affects the service life of gears and bearings. Lubricating oil should be selected according to the working conditions: synthetic oil with high viscosity index and strong chemical reactivity should be selected for high temperature working conditions; For working conditions with granular media, it is necessary to use pressure lubricating oil with good anti-wear performance. When replacing the lubricating oil, it is necessary to completely drain the old oil and clean the sludge at the bottom of the oil tank to prevent the new oil from being contaminated. For example, a certain steel company once added new oil directly without cleaning the oil tank sludge, resulting in excessive metal particles in the lubricating oil and abrasive wear on the gear tooth surface. During maintenance, it was found that the gear needed to be replaced in advance.
The amount of lubricating oil should be controlled within the correct range: low oil level can lead to insufficient lubrication, causing dry wear of gears or bearings; If the oil level is too high, it will increase the stirring resistance and cause the oil temperature to rise. When adding lubricating oil, it is necessary to confirm that the oil level is between the upper and lower limits through a dipstick or observation window, and avoid impurities from entering. A certain food enterprise once added too much lubricating oil, which caused the oil temperature to be too high during the operation of the oil pump, resulting in aging and leakage of seals. In the later stage, it is necessary to replace the seals and adjust the oil level.
3、 Sealing maintenance: prevent pre leakage and ensure system stability
Seals are key components to prevent oil pump leakage and require regular inspection and replacement. The contact surface between the dynamic and static rings of the mechanical seal should be kept clean. If the medium contains solid particles, a filter should be installed at the inlet of the pump body to prevent particles from embedding into the sealing surface and causing leakage. The tightness of the packing seal needs to be adjusted through the gland bolt. If the packing box heats up or leaks more, the gland should be loosened appropriately and new packing should be added; If the filler hardens or fractures, it should be replaced immediately with the same type of filler. A certain enterprise once caused medium leakage and product contamination due to failure to replace aging mechanical seals in a timely manner. Later, by establishing a regular replacement system for seals, similar accidents were avoided.
4、 Cleaning and maintenance: prevent impurities from entering and extend equipment life
The cleaning of the oil pump needs to cover both the inside and outside. Internal cleaning requires regular disassembly of the pump body, rinsing of gears, bearings, and pump chambers with cleaning agents to remove oil sludge and impurities. For example, the oil pump that transports lubricating oil needs to be disassembled and cleaned every six months to prevent the accumulation of oil sludge from affecting the gear meshing accuracy. For external cleaning, it is necessary to wipe the oil stains on the surface of the pump body with a dry cloth to prevent dust and moisture from entering the motor or control box. A cement plant once had to replace the motor and increase cleaning management due to the lack of cleaning of the pump body surface, which caused dust to enter the motor and cause a short circuit.
5、 Stability protection: Avoiding risks and ensuring equipment stability
The maintenance of the oil pump requires strict adherence to stable operating procedures. During power-off maintenance, a warning sign reading "Do not close" should be hung in the control box to prevent others from operating it incorrectly; Before disassembling the pump body, it is necessary to release the residual pressure in the pipeline to avoid injury caused by high-pressure medium spraying out; When using tools, it is necessary to choose appropriate specifications to prevent accidents caused by slippage or breakage. For example, a certain machinery factory once dismantled an oil pump without releasing pipeline pressure, resulting in high-pressure oil spraying and injuring operators. However, through stable training and operating procedures, similar injuries were avoided.
Oil pump maintenance is a systematic project that requires collaborative efforts from multiple dimensions such as operating standards, lubrication management, sealing maintenance, cleaning and maintenance, and stability protection. Through standardized processes, meticulous management, and preventive measures, the failure rate can be significantly reduced, equipment life can be extended, and solid certainty can be provided for the continuous and stable operation of industrial production.
