Sealing leakage of gear oil pump is a common problem, which not only affects the normal operation of equipment, but also may lead to stability hazards. The following is a detailed analysis and countermeasures for the sealing leakage problem of gear oil pumps.
1、 Analysis of the causes of seal leakage
Wear of dynamic and static ring surfaces:
Tight installation: If there is severe burning, blackening, and deep marks on the surface of the dynamic and static rings of the mechanical seal, as well as the sealing rubber becoming hard and losing elasticity, this is usually caused by tight installation.
Loose installation: When there is a thin layer of grease on the surface of the moving and stationary rings, which can be wiped off and has little wear, this may be caused by the spring losing elasticity, poor assembly, or axial movement of the motor.
Media issues:
Medium containing particles: If the medium contains small particles and high hydrochloride content, it will wear down the flat surface of the machine seal or strain the surface, forming grooves, ring grooves and other phenomena.
Lack of medium operation: In the bottom valve installation form, if there is negative pressure at the inlet, there is air in the inlet pipe, and there is air in the pump chamber, the friction operation after startup will generate high temperature and cannot be cooled, which will cause seal damage.
Assembly issues:
When installing the pump cover, it may not be installed flat, resulting in the shaft not being perpendicular to the pump cover, causing the static and dynamic planes to not match, and leading to unilateral wear and leakage after startup.
During the installation of the dynamic and static rings, there is a possibility of damaging the rubber components or damaging the surface of the rings.
Mechanical sealant failure:
The aging and deformation of rubber parts are mainly caused by the aging and deformation of the hot oil pump, leading to the failure of the sealant. Excessive oil temperature or dissolution of rubber in the medium can also cause this problem.
Pump cover static ring chamber issue:
The machining size error of the inner hole of the static ring is large, and the surface is rough, which leads to the axial spraying of medium. There is a gap or rough inner hole between the static ring and the inner hole, causing the static ring to rotate and rubber wear.
2、 Response measures for seal leakage
Adjust installation:
If the installation is too tight, adjust the installation height. After installing the impeller, use a screwdriver to pull the spring. The spring has good tension and can be restored after loosening, with a movement distance of 2-4mm.
If the installation is too loose, check the spring elasticity and assembly condition, and replace or reassemble the spring as needed.
Improved media:
Improve the oil pressure or replace the medium to reduce the particle content in the medium.
There is sufficient medium in the pump chamber to avoid dry grinding.
Check assembly:
Dismantle and reinstall, check if the pump cover is installed flat, and ensure that the shaft is perpendicular to the pump cover.
Check the assembly of the dynamic and static rings to avoid damaging rubber parts or damaging the surface.
Replacing rubber materials:
If the rubber parts age or deform, replace them with suitable rubber materials.
Replace the pump cover or increase the sealing glue:
If the machining size error of the inner hole of the static ring is large or the surface is rough, replace the pump cover, or wrap the outer ring of the static ring with raw material tape or add sealing glue for emergency treatment.
Dealing with journal issues:
If the machining size of the motor shaft neck is small or corroded, use sandpaper to polish the corroded surface, wrap it with raw material tape and put it into the dynamic ring for emergency treatment, or replace the shaft.
Increase daily inspections and maintenance:
Regularly inspect the wear of mechanical seals and replace severely worn components in a timely manner.
Keep the pump chamber and pipelines clean to prevent impurities from entering.
Regularly inspect and replace lubricating oil, ensuring sufficient lubrication inside the pump body.

When dealing with leakage issues, it is necessary to analyze the specific situation and take corresponding measures.
