A gear pump includes a motor, a reducer, a coupling, and a pump head. The pump head is composed of a pump casing, front and rear side covers, a gear shaft, sliding bearings, and a shaft seal. High temperature gear pumps belong to positive displacement pumps, which rely on the change in working volume caused by the mutual meshing of the main and driven gears to transport the melt during operation. The working volume is composed of the pump body, gear teeth, and bearings with side plate function. When the gear rotates, the molten material enters the tooth grooves of the two gears in the suction chamber. As the gear rotates, the molten material is brought into the discharge chamber from both sides. The re meshing of the gears causes the molten material in the tooth grooves to be squeezed out of the discharge chamber and pressed into the outlet pipe. As long as the pump shaft rotates, the gear presses the melt towards the outlet side, so the pump outlet can reach a high pressure, and the flow rate is basically independent of the discharge pressure.
