The Development and Research Status of Gear Pumps

As early as 2000 years ago, humans invented gear transmission devices. Early gears were made of wood or metal casting, which could only transmit rotational motion between two axes and could not achieve smooth transmission. Their load-bearing capacity was also very small. With the development of production, the smoothness of gear operation has been emphasized. In 1674, Danish astronomer Romer proposed using an epitrochoid as the tooth profile curve to ensure smooth operation of gears. During the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century, gear technology developed rapidly and people conducted extensive research on gears. In 1733, French mathematician Camille published the fundamental law of tooth profile meshing; In 1765, Swiss mathematician L. Euler suggested using involute as the tooth profile curve. Since L. Euler proposed the involute cylindrical gear, especially with the emergence of hobbing and hobbing machines in the 19th century, it has solved the problems of mass production and accuracy of involute gears, and has gained a position in the industrial field.
