The main purpose of drilling mud pump

Drilling pump is one of the three major components of oil drilling rig and a key equipment of drilling fluid circulation system. During drilling, the drilling pump delivers high viscosity, high density, and high sand content liquid to the bottom of the well under high pressure, in order to cool the drill bit, carry out rock debris, and serve as the power fluid for the downhole drilling tool, assisting the drill bit in drilling. In the form of pumps, reciprocating piston pumps are used in drilling operations due to their ability to transport liquids with high viscosity, high specific gravity, high sand content, and relatively low flow rate under high pressure.
