Design requirements for gear pumps

Gear pumps, as a typical hydraulic power component, are applied in industries such as machine tool industry, agricultural machinery, engineering machinery, aerospace, and shipbuilding. Its structure is simple, and the main working components are composed of two gears. Compared with blade pumps (blades, rotors, and other accessories) and plunger pumps (components such as inclined plates, plungers, cylinder bodies, and return plates), it has advantages in terms of originality, craftsmanship, and processing methods. It is composed of only a pair of meshing gears and a pump body, thus it has the advantages of small size, light weight, ease of operation, low cost, insensitivity to oil, self-priming, and easy maintenance. It has been applied in the transportation of liquids, and the annual production and sales of gear pumps reach millions of sets, with a production value of billions of yuan. Although vane pumps and plunger pumps have good performance, gear pumps have not disappeared due to their sensitivity to oil pollution and high production costs. Instead, their output has steadily increased.
